The largest official LEGO base plate is 50 dots x 50 dots (40cm x 40cm or 15.8” x 15.8”). LEGO used to manufacture these big base plates during the 1960s and 1970s, but replaced them with the now iconic 48 dots x 48 dots (that’s 38.4cm x 38.4cm or 15.1” x 15.1”) baseplate they still sell today.
The biggest baseplate size we manufacture is our large silicone baseplate which measures 100 dots x 38 dots. That’s 81.3cm x 30.5cm or 32” x 12”, which gives you even more room to build on!
The smallest LEGO base plate is just 6 dots x 6 dots ( 4.8cm x 4.8cm or 1.9” x 1.9”) There’s no way you can use it to build great big LEGO structures, but it’s useful for adding small extras onto big builds.
The smallest base plate we manufacture is 32 dots x 32 dots (25.5cm x 25.5cm or 10” x 10”). It might not be tiny, but at least it gives you plenty of room for building!
LEGO base plate sizes mostly come in multiples of eight dots, with a few exceptions, due to manufacturing limitations. The most common LEGO base plate sizes are listed below:
Sometimes the standard LEGO base plate sizes just aren’t enough. That’s why we manufacture our own exclusive base plate sizes!
Our most popular is the large baseplate made from silicone. We make them in green, pink and grey and measure 100 dots x 38 (81.3cm x 30.5cm or 32” x 12”) which are three times the size of standard LEGO base plate size, perfect for sharing or to create super big builds.
Because we manufacture our own baseplates, we can cut out the middle man and pass the savings onto you. All of our baseplate sizes are compatible with all the major brands, made from premium plastic or silicone which will last for years and are covered by our 100% satisfaction guarantee.
